Research has shown that the early years – from birth through age five – are the most critical for brain development and learning. Eighty percent of a child’s brain develops by age three, and 90 percent by age five. High-quality child care – care that supports a child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development – maximizes a child’s overall growth and prepares him or her to succeed in school and life.
We have embraced the HighScope approach to our curriculum. We focus on the development of the whole child based on the belief that active learning is the most appropriate way to support the development of the whole child. By allowing children to engage in more meaningful activities and experiences, we are supporting them as they build a knowledge base that will help them make sense of the world around them.
